All the routes that we describe can be done either directly from Nerja itself, or, with the use of a car, within a single day trip from here. Given that Nerja is also one of the very best resorts on the Costa del Sol – with over 400 restaurants to choose between, for example – you cannot do better than to base yourself here. Above all, Nerja is still the ‘Real Spain’, unspoilt by tourism, despite its immense popularity. This is part of Nerja’s magic.
Although there are numerous hotels that you can stay at, car parking can be a problem with many of these, and we make no secret of the fact that we would like to encourage you to rent one of our self-catering apartments instead. Put it like this: historically we ourselves would always stay in hotels whilst away on holiday. Then we tried a rental apartment instead, and haven’t stayed in a hotel since! 'Self-catering' doesn’t actually have to mean cooking your own meals – you can readily find somewhere to eat out all day long in the neighbourhood, from breakfast to your evening meal, – but it does mean that you can actually relax properly (and, for example, watch the TV programmes of your choice), no small bonus after a hard day's walking.
